The End

I recently published my first edited book,  Labor of Love: A Literary Mama Staff Anthology ,  with  Small Harbor Publishing . It's an anthology of writing from  Literary Mama  staff over the past 20 years. It's a beautiful collection and I am proud of the writers and proud to share the book.  It seems a fitting moment, as I pondered sharing about the book here on the blog, to reflect on my life as a blogger, and acknowledge that it is time to officially end this blog.   I started blogging in about 2007, when my baby was learning to toddle, when I was learning how to be a mother and stepmother, when I was just starting to see my way as a writer. I needed it back then. I craved it. I had a variety of blog iterations--family, art, creativity, writing things I delved into. There's a freedom in blogging, a casualness, an easy familiarity that's lacking (for me anyway) in other kinds of writing. I loved blogging and the words came pouring out.  Over the years since then, some

Happy Haulidays!

This winter WE could be winners!  Well, we already ARE winners, but we could win some books too. Thanks to Chronicle Books. They are offering their Second Annual Happy Haulidays book giveaway this month.
Here's the scoop.  I write a blog post which includes a list of 500$ worth of Chronicle Books I'd like to own and give to a charity,  and YOU post a comment about it.  Then THEY randomly choose my post as the winner, I choose your comment, and YOU, ME, and the CHARITY each get a set of the books.  Easy as pie.

If I win, I think I would like my local library, Tompkins County Public Library, to have these books. I spend so much time there, researching, looking at books with Cedar, picking out movies from their extensive collection, and finding just the right stories to read. Not to mention all the program over the years I have attended there, and made use of. It's a great place to hang out and write, or find the best of the children's section.

If you have a blog, you can post your own entry as well. But you have to enter by December 2nd to be in the drawing. If you don't blog, leave a comment here, or stop by the other blogs entered, and you could win too!

I always love books from Chronicle but many of these are new to me, clearly I need to go look at their booklist. Good luck to you, me and your library. Happy Holi/Hauli-days!

I love your mix of children and adult books. The Story of Snow looks really interesting, I missed it when I made my list of children's books for the Haul.
Good luck to us both - Katie

I tried to win the NPR book in last year's contest, but luckily, my husband bought it for me as a gift. This year, I got to choose a whole new list and a charity. Thanks for commenting on my list at Two Kinds of People. I hope one of us wins!
